Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova at a meeting of the government presidium on the fight against coronavirus proposed to appeal to President Vladimir Putin with a request to introduce non-working days from October 30 to November 7. For a number of regions, in her opinion, it is necessary to provide non-working days from October 23. Her proposals were supported by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, tomorrow they will be discussed at a meeting with the president. The presidential press secretary said that Vladimir Putin would listen to these proposals, but that only he would make the decision.

What else did Mrs. Golikova suggest:

  • ensure control over compliance with all accepted restrictions,
  • regions – to ask to observe self-isolation of unemployed and unvaccinated pensioners,
  • employers transfer unvaccinated employees over 60 years of age to remote work for a month,
  • give employees two days off for vaccinations,
  • after November 7, carefully reopen industries closed for non-working days,
  • admit to some objects only by QR codes,
  • centrally purchase expensive drugs for hospitals.

Mr. Mishustin asked First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov and Minister of Economy Maxim Reshetnikov to prepare proposals for business support against the backdrop of decisions on non-working days.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the current level of collective immunity to COVID-19 in Russia does not significantly affect mortality from it. “Today, unfortunately, we have slightly exceeded the figure of 45%. This level does not significantly affect mortality rates, ”she said at a meeting of the Presidium of the Coordination Council for the fight against coronavirus.

The head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, noted that the measures being taken now are insufficient. “I would like to note that the measures taken today – unfortunately, only 28 entities have come to QR-coding – are insufficient. Because the development of the epidemiological situation requires much more measures to be taken and a much faster response to the epidemiological situation and taking the necessary measures, ”she said.

Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin will listen to the reports and make a decision on the issue of non-working days. “As soon as he makes a decision, we will publish it,” he said.

In early October, Mr. Peskov said that the introduction of a lockdown is an absolutely undesirable scenario.

Over the past day, 33,740 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in Russia. 1,015 people died, a record figure for the entire pandemic.

Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko at a meeting of the Presidium of the Coordination Council for the fight against coronavirus said that since the beginning of the month the number of active cases has grown by almost 23%, and over the past week the increase has amounted to 12%. According to him, the number of seriously ill patients and those who need to be connected to ventilators is growing.
