jpnn.comJAKARTA – The Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 11th National Working Meeting and National Conference of the Golkar Party, Bambang Soesatyo, or familiarly known as Bamsoet, said that the election of Bahlil Lahadalia by acclamation as general chairman replacing Airlangga Hartarto was the right decision.

According to Bamsoet, this confirms the strong tradition of deliberation for consensus in the Golkar Party organization as mandated by the fourth principle of Pancasila.

“Consensus is a wise path that prevents us from getting caught in the dichotomy of the majority and minority, which can trigger division,” said Bamsoet in a written statement received on Thursday (22/8).

Bamsoet said that Bahlil was a cadre who was born and raised by the Golkar Party from the regions and was a competent and capable figure.

The harshness of life’s journey has made him a tough and independent person.

“This character is what led Mr. Bahlil to success as a businessman and serve as the General Chairperson of HIPMI for the 2015-2018 period until he was later trusted as a Minister of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet by President Jokowi,” explained Bamsoet, who is now also the Chairperson of the MPR RI.

Reflecting on Bahlil’s life journey, according to Bamsoet, all Golkar Party cadres can learn that success is the result of hard work, patience, and perseverance.

“It’s not a result that can be obtained instantly,” said Bamsoet.

Bamsoet reminded Golkar Party cadres who have just had a new captain that the dynamics and political contestation in the future will be increasingly challenging.
