jpnn.comJAKARTA – Secretary General of Golkar Sarmuji admitted that he was surprised by the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which abolished the rules regarding the threshold for candidacy for the President of the Republic of Indonesia or the Presidential Threshold in the Election Law.

Because, said the chairman of the Golkar faction in the DPR RI, the Constitutional Court has tried many regulations regarding nomination thresholds and has always rejected them.

“The Constitutional Court’s decision is very surprising, considering that the Constitutional Court’s decisions regarding the previous 27 have always been rejected,” said Sarmuji via messaging service, Thursday (2/1).

He said that the MK in its previous decision had the same view as the DPR regarding the threshold, namely supporting the Presidential Threshold.

“In its 27 decisions, the perspective of the Constitutional Court and the legislators has always been the same, namely the intention of implementing the presidential threshold is to support the presidential system to run effectively,” he said.

Previously, the Constitutional Court abolished the rule regarding the party threshold requirement for nominating the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia or the Presidential Threshold (PT) of 20 percent.

This was stated when the Constitutional Court decided on the trial of lawsuit number 62/PUU-XXII/2024 with Enika Maya Oktavia always the applicant, Thursday (1/2).

“Granting the petitioners’ request in its entirety,” said Suhartoyo when reading out the verdict at the trial, Thursday.
