The tragedy occurred yesterday, Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in the Bandeya district of the Doguelsigon sub-prefecture, Mali prefecture. According to our information, the victim is a married woman. She met her fate when she returned to her husband’s village, while she was returning from her parents’ house, whom she had gone to greet on the occasion of the Al-choura festival. Struck down, Mariame Diouldé Diallo finally succumbed to her injuries. When questioned, the president of the Bandeya district returned to what happened.
“You are probably aware that yesterday was the day after the Al-choura festival. She had gone to greet her parents as tradition dictates. On her way back, a few meters from the entrance to her husband’s village named Horé-liti, as it was raining, she was struck by lightning. She was in the company of another woman who was also struck by lightning but fortunately for the latter, she did not die. It was this woman, when she regained consciousness, who went to inform the people of the village. In the process, the authorities were informed, followed by the security services who went to the scene of the tragedy. After their assessment, they returned the body to her biological family for burial. She was buried this Wednesday morning. The deceased’s name is Mariama Diouldé Diallo, married and mother of a daughter,” explained Boubacar Sidi Bah.
