DECRYPTION – The regime generated a surplus of 5 billion in 2022 and has 68 billion in reserves.

The pension deficit is not inevitable. Well managed, with the necessary management decisions, a plan can become surplus and even build up substantial reserves to deal with shocks. This is the case of the Agirc-Arrco scheme, which manages the supplementary pensions of 13 million private pensioners and the contributions of 26 million active people.

The scheme on Wednesday posted a 2022 surplus of 5.1 billion euros, nearly double its 2021 profit of 2.6 billion. Excellent results which can be explained by the good performance of the job market with 60,000 jobs created in 2022 and the dynamics of salaries, which have increased by an average of 5.9% (revaluation of the minimum wage, salary increases, absence recourse to partial activity).

As a result, contributions poured into the coffers of Agirc-Arrco, which recorded a 6.3% increase in revenue, to 93.8 billion. At the same time, spending remained under control, with 88.3 billion in allowances…
