Lambri, as is the Greek name of Easter, is the biggest celebration of Orthodoxy. It has been intertwined with the history of our nation which for many years under Ottoman slavery lived with the hope of the Resurrection because it believed in Him, in the perfect God and perfect man at the same time. The one who suffered the tortures and humiliations of His creation and without protest was led to the sacrifice on the cross to wash away humanity from its sins.
By His Resurrection the God-Man crushed the kingdom of darkness; so also Romiosiny by her resurrection crushed her bonds. That is why in the consciousness of the Greek, Lambri became the greatest celebration, the celebration of the promise of our Salvation.
As in the whole of Greece, in Pontus, Good Friday was considered a day of great mourning.
