Good governance government also responsible for power crisis – Opposition MP

by time news

United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka has accused the government of failing to build new power plants during its tenure, which has led to the current power crisis.

He was speaking at a media briefing in Colombo yesterday (22).

He further commented,

β€œThe current government, which has been in power for more than two years, has not installed new power plants.

The government has deprived people of their right to transport and electricity because they do not have $ 36 million to buy fuel.

The Ceylon Electricity Board has the capacity to generate 1,383 MW of electricity from hydropower plants and 1,554 MW from thermal power plants and 614 MW from the private sector, including the West Coast Thermal Power Station.

The head of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka has stated that the power cut will not be implemented for three months. But he does not know about power generation methods.

The main reason is the shortage of dollar reserves caused by the government’s financial mismanagement. The head of state, the prime minister and the finance minister must be responsible for the current state of the country. ”
