Good news for diabetics.. A drink that reduces blood sugar in minutes

A cool, refreshing glass of juice may be the perfect solution during the summer heat wave, however fruit juices are usually off-limits to those with type 2 diabetes, as they can raise blood sugar levels.

However, recent research revealed that one drink may be an exception, as it may lower blood sugar levels, according to a report published by the “Express” website.

pomegranate juice

A study looked at the effects of a single 8-ounce serving of pomegranate juice on blood sugar levels.

The researchers recruited 21 individuals of a healthy and normal weight, who were randomly told to drink water, pomegranate juice, and a water-based beverage to match the sugar content of the pomegranate juice.

While drinking water did not change the blood sugar levels of any of the participants, pomegranate juice achieved promising results, according to research published in the journal Current Developments in Nutrition.

Those with low blood insulin during fasting experienced a significant drop in their blood glucose within 15 minutes.

Regulates the metabolism

The research concluded that their findings suggest that constituents in pomegranate juice likely regulate glucose metabolism in humans.

It is noteworthy that pomegranates are high in anthocyanins, which are pigments that give the juice its distinctive color, and these goodies are rich in antioxidants.
