Good News of Salvation at Cana – Audio

Fr. Jinu Jacob, Vatican City

The journey to the public life of the Lord Jesus Christ is what the mother of the church educates us through the Gospel parts of St. John the Baptist every Sunday of the Lenten season. God the Father is the embodiment of His love for mankind in His love that He sends into this world and the divinity of the Son, Humanity is also revealed in its fullness in the Gospel passages we read these Sundays.

But this plan of God the Father is not added to the New Testament, but the Old Testament readings show that it is God’s desire to reconcile the rifts in the love relationship that existed as a result of man’s sin in the Old Testament. Revealing to us. Today’s Gospel passage introduces us to the wedding feast at Cana, Then there is Jesus who performs his first miracle by listening to his mother’s words. The evangelist calls this experience a miracle that revealed his glory. Beginning with the first pages of Genesis, God revealed His glory to man, the crown of creation., As a result, we see experiences that save people. So there is a background that leads Jesus to the miracle at Cana. It is of divine love, It is also a revelation of mercy. The first reading from the book of Numbers points to the divine glory thus revealed to the people of Israel.

God is faithful in his promises

Most of the Seventies of the Old Testament, To God, It also describes care for the chosen people of Israel. God’s mercy is on the way to free man from slavery in Egypt and bring him to the prosperity of the land of Canaan., and patience, And love, We see the promises of hope being fulfilled. Humane For doubts, For grunts too, A God who shows faithfulness in His promises with patience even in the midst of discomfort. And Moses, fed up with the impatient words of his people, casts doubt on God, In the first reading we are introduced to God who answers those questions. In the book of Numbers, chapter eleven, verse twenty-three, the word of God that leads Moses back to God’s faith is as follows, Did my arm get shorter?? You will see whether my word will be fulfilled or not?” Moses, the prophet who was enraged by the grievances of man, is then strengthened by these words of God. Then come to the people and remind them of God’s promise, Moses leads the people of Israel to experience divine intervention as he conveys his words. Moses is the symbol of today’s world, who forgets God, faithful in his promises, in the midst of human clamor. And the nearness of God in the midst of often worldly words,Today’s first reading invites us to examine ourselves to see if we are forgetting mercy. In the second reading, the prophet Isaiah reminds us that the fulfillment of these divine promises lies in the total salvation of man.

Israel’s imminent salvation

The prophet Isaiah points us to the imminent salvation by reminding us of the first and most important of the ten commandments given by God as a way for human salvation. Hesitantly, thinking that liberation is still far away, The Prophet also gives a warning to those who live with indolence. It is also an invitation to live in hope of God’s salvation by constantly remembering God’s promises. But the word also highlights the loss of salvation for those who forsake the true God and worship worldly idols of gold and silver. So this is a hope for us too,It is also a tone of warning. How to understand the true God among the people of Israel, Was he expecting his salvation by worshiping that God alone?, Likewise on the other hand man-made as a substitute for him, There was a group who also worshiped the gods who provided momentary pleasures. In today’s age and for gain by forgetting the true God, The prophet Isaiah points out to us that the salvation promised by God is lost to the people who wander after the world for pleasures. In this way, the New Testament introduces us to Jesus as the ‘mediator of salvation’, which is the fulfillment of the prophecies that were guiding the people of Israel through the words.

The Messiah, the eternal priest, is the mediator of salvation

The sign of salvation became available to mankind when the Word, who was with God, became flesh according to the plan of the Father and was born in this world. This great truth is revealed in the Epistle to the Hebrews, It is through the word of fulfillment, Jesus, the eternal priest. The eternal priesthood of Jesus, who was not transferred, was not filled with the pride of authority, but the mediation of salvation to mankind. The word saysHe is able to fully save those who approach God through Him. He who lives forever intercedes for them.” This salvation was won for us by the Messiah or through the sacrifice of his life. It is this ultimate salvation that the Old Testament and the New Testament pour out for our consideration today. This message of salvation is given to us throughout the life of Jesus. Through the glad tidings of the angel Gabriel, who was conceived in the womb of the Holy Mary. From that moment every moment of his life was the great task of making possible the salvation of man. In today’s Gospel reading, John the Baptist reveals to us an indescribable moment of this promise of salvation.

The Glory of the Messiah at Cana

And for human weaknesses,Through the miracle at the wedding feast in Cana, the Messiah reveals the blessed moments of divine mercy that listens to the pains of poverty. The evangelist describes this miracle as the beginning of the signs that Jesus performed to reveal his glory. He listened to his mother’s words and made wine for the invited guests. After turning water into wine, Jesus wanted to symbolize the passage from the old to the new covenant. The salvation promised in the Old Testament is now realized through Jesus. His hour, Hour of the Cross, The hour of redemption has not yet come. Even then, this miracle reveals His desire to give a sign of this imminent salvation to those who call. The Holy Mother who came through the trial to this miracle of Christ is also a model for us today. Although the words of the son may appear to us as a gross disregard for the mother, The words of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which penetrates to the depth of faith, are firm. “Do as he tells you.” And the prophets of the Old Testament,Priests and New Testament writers, The evangelists also give us this call to divine glory. There may be many occasions in our lives where faith is tested. But in the midst of them also His, Christ’s Today’s readings convince us that it is when we listen to the words that the fruits of salvation can be produced in our lives.

Marriage is the beginning of life

The miracles Jesus performs at the wedding feast are very much related to life. The sacrament of marriage is a blessed moment of divine grace. Marriage is a sacrament in which a man and a woman step out of their egos and dedicate their lives to the Creator as a creation of life in the union of each other’s hearts. There the presence of Jesus and the Holy Mother is essential. And the miracle of Jesus in this age when the masks of materialism make life itself empty, Without the mediation of the mother, it is not possible to move forward in life as a complement to each other. Without their presence, it seems to be happy at first, but the lack of wine, that is, the lack of grace, leads to crises in life. Therefore, may the glorification of Jesus be possible through our lives, and thus, may salvation be achieved in our lives and the lives of others. May God bless us abundantly.
