The Saudi Ministry of Health has activated the “Mawad” and “Ihalati” systems in all home health care departments in hospitals and regions for referring patients, in order to facilitate access to home health care beneficiaries through these two systems. Patients are accepted in this service according to the conditions set by the Ministry, which are patients Hospital inpatients and non-patients: (emergency patients, primary health center patients, Alzheimer patients, comprehensive rehabilitation patients), in addition to the presence of a person capable of caring for the patient, and the distance between the health care department and the patient’s home should not exceed 70 km, as well as the signature of the patient or Responsible for him from his family to consent to the home health care service.
The total number of visits
The Ministry revealed that the total number of visits it made to homes reached 72,330 visits, and the number of field visits reached 62,529 until the middle of the year 2022 AD, while the number of patients under service reached 44,781 patients in 22 regions and governorates in the Kingdom, and an increase in the number of patients registered with the service amounted to 4,351 patients. The number of hospitals and centers that provide services to home care patients has reached 242 hospitals and centers, and the number of medical teams is 500.
The Ministry confirmed that the categories that benefit from home health care services are hospitalized patients if the condition is stable or need health services at home, and patients who are not inpatients and need health follow-up. .
Services provided
The Ministry indicated that the services provided to home health care patients include rehabilitation, home physiotherapy, home respiratory care, home nursing care, home social services, medical care, home nutrition services, virtual home health services, home mental health, as well as other supportive services. It also started providing home health care services about 14 years ago, where home health care provides preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative services.
