India’s largest lender State Bank of India has made a big announcement to promote the convenience of mobile banking transactions among the grassroots. That means henceforth SBI Bank has announced that it will waive the charges for sending SMS when the transaction is done through mobile. This is expected to benefit the poor and increase the number of mobile transactions. According to SBI, customers of SBI Bank can transact using USST services without any additional charges.
Also, SBI Bank has informed its customers that by dialing *99#, they can avail banking services completely free of charge. SBI Bank has shared an infographic on its official Twitter account saying, ‘SMS charges are waived for mobile transactions, customers can now transact for free without paying any additional charges’. USSD is a service used by banking services to perform transactions, check account balances, generate bank statements and more.

And this service is not only available to those who have smartphones and internet access, people with normal phones can also use this service. This service allows you to transact money or check your account balance or get a bank statement without a smartphone or internet connection using mobile banking using the number *99#. SBI Bank also informed that customers will not have to pay for any services like sending money, receiving money, account balance, mini statement, UPI pin change etc.
