Good People, an international relief and development NGO, announced on the 10th that it plans to build an ICT (information and communication technology) classroom in a public primary school in the Kilgori Munge area of Kenya and strengthen teachers’ digital capabilities.

Good People plans to invest a total of 530 million won in this project by 2026 to build ICT classrooms in 15 public elementary and middle schools in the Munggae area and support various facilities including computers and internet networks.

We also plan to establish an ICT training center for teachers in the Munggae area and operate an ICT education capacity building program.

On August 30, Good People donated general classrooms, ICT classrooms, and computer education equipment to Munge Anne & Keshui School, one of the target schools. The donation ceremony was attended by Good People Chairman Kim Cheon-soo, vice-chairmen, Munge local government officials, and members of the National Assembly.

“We are delighted to have Good People’s support to provide modern classrooms and a space for ICT education,” said Karoli Tu Andankeshui, Principal of the school. “It will enable teachers and students to develop their digital capabilities.”

On this day, Good People also signed a multilateral business agreement with the Narok County Department of Education and Teacher Service Committee, where Munge belongs, and the Kilgori District Regional Development Fund to improve the educational environment in the Munge region.

The Kenyan Ministry of Education is reorganizing the school system by 2025 to ensure that each school has specialized educational spaces such as computer labs and science labs. However, some public schools in Munge were unable to build computer labs due to budget constraints.

In addition, among the 59 public elementary and secondary school teachers in the Munggae area, only 33 received ICT training, and only 18 of them had computer skills.

Kim Cheon-su, Chairman of Good People, said, “Good People has been working to improve the educational environment in the Munggae area and guarantee students’ right to education since 2012,” and added, “I hope that through this project, the digital capabilities of both students and teachers can grow.”
