Violation of the period of stay has serious consequences in the United States. If someone does not leave the country within the time allotted to them, it is recommended to do so as soon as possible, in order to have milder consequences, writes Világgazdaság.
The ESTA entry permit was previously valid for two years from the date of approval, but under the new restrictions it is now only valid for one year.
In the United States, the authorities act particularly harshly against illegal entrants.
According to the traditional procedure, if a person is in the USA illegally, he can expect to be detained by the immigration police for one to three months, which he must serve in a detention center or prison.

After that, the court procedure ends with the expulsion and then deportation of the person.
According to the latest rules, Hungarian citizens who were born outside the borders of Hungary can only obtain permission to enter the USA by submitting a visa application.
Having an ESTA or a valid visa does not mean you can enter the United States. Crossing the border is permitted by the US border guards every evening, so anyone with all the necessary documents can be turned back at the border. Along with the permit, the border guard also sets the final length of stay.
At the border, the authority can check the round-trip flight ticket, the accommodation reservation, the adequate financial cover and anything else besides. They can investigate the traveler’s intentions, that is, whether the person has plans corresponding to the travel purpose stated in the visa or permit. In case of suspicion, entry may be refused, the traveler may be detained and deported.
