In an invention awaited by millions of diabetics around the world, a team of engineers revealed a smart necklace that a person wears on his neck, which helps him track his health.
And the smart, thin necklace, can measure many indicators in human sweat, according to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”.
This invention also helps diabetics, as it dispenses with blood tests by prick fingers.
The necklace has a sensor placed on the back of the neck, and its task is to monitor glucose and serotonin levels.
Accuracy up to 99%
During clinical trials, engineers at Ohio State University were able to examine the capabilities of the necklace, as it measured the concentration of sodium, potassium and other substances in a person’s sweat with an accuracy of 98.9%.
And it doesn’t stop at the necklace. Engineers expect to add biosensors to other accessories like rings and earrings, and even implant them under the skin to inform patients about changes in their health.
For his part, said co-author of the study, which established the new invention, Jinghua Li, that sweat contains hundreds of biomarkers of our health.

Small amount of sweat
She also added that the next generation of biosensors will not be surgical, as is the case now, to the point of revealing basic information about human health through the fluids they secrete.
What distinguishes the new biosensor is its small size and its ability to produce results based on a small amount of perspiration, she said.
The results of the tests in all cases showed that the concentration of glucose in the sweat reached its peak within 30-40 minutes of ingestion of sugar.
It is not clear when this invention will be available in the market and the supposed price for it.
