Google, Youtube, Facebook and Tiktok are planning to involve in the placement of social advertising in Russia in 2022, Interfax reports, citing Alexei Goreslavsky, who was previously elected general director of the Institute for Internet Development.
“Also next year we plan to connect foreign sites – Google, Youtube, Facebook, Tiktok within the framework of the current legislation,” Goreslavsky said.
He noted that in 2021, the Internet Development Institute has already implemented pilot projects to place social advertising about vaccination, donation and support for the elderly.
“We have already launched the first competition for the placement of social advertising on the Internet from NGOs and charitable organizations, which will end on December 7. By the end of the year, the applications will be peer-reviewed, and the first placements on the largest sites of Russian companies will begin in February: Yandex, VK Group, Rambler Group, ”he said.
Earlier, the State Duma passed a law that sets a 5% quota for social advertising on the Internet. The law covers information resources that place advertisements for a Russian audience, the number of users of which exceeds 100,000 per day. The Institute for Internet Development was identified as an operator of social advertising.
