An update for Google Chrome brings numerous new features and closes important security gaps. Users should definitely update their browser.

Google has released the latest version of its popular web browser Chrome. The update to version 129 not only brings important security improvements, but also a number of new features designed to improve users’ browsing experience. As the company announced, the update is now available for all supported platforms.

One of the new features is the AI-supported “Tab Compare” function. It allows users to get a quick overview of products that are open in multiple tabs. This comparison is intended to be particularly helpful when shopping online to make it easier to compare prices and features of different items.

The new version 129 closes a total of nine security vulnerabilities. Six of them have been detailed on the official Chrome releases blog, with the severity levels ranging from “high” to “low”. According to Google, there are currently no known cases in which these vulnerabilities have been exploited.

There is also a new certificate manager for Windows and Mac users. This checks and manages digital certificates that confirm that a website is trustworthy and enables encrypted data transfers. The manager can be accessed via the settings under “Security”.

Android users can look forward to improved tab management. Inactive tabs are now displayed in a separate area and automatically deleted after 60 days. This is intended to provide more clarity and reduce the load on the RAM.

On iOS devices, tab groups are now saved and can also be synced if enabled. This feature makes it easier to keep track of multiple open web pages, especially when switching between different Apple devices.
