Passkeys set to become increasingly popular
Until now, you could only save passkeys in Google Password Manager on Android, and to use them on other devices you had to scan a special QR code.
The Google team has announced that it has started implementing some updates that will make it even easier to use passkeys on your devices, as it will be possible to save them on Google Password Manager from Windows, macOS, Linux e Android (the new feature on ChromeOS is still in beta) and then automatically sync them across all your other devices, making access as simple as scanning your fingerprint.
To create passkeys and access those saved on your devices, it has been introduced a new Google Password Manager PINthus adding an additional layer of security to ensure that they are protected by an encryption system end-to-end (Not even Google can access it).
When you start using passkeys on a new device, you will need to know your Google Password Manager PIN or Android device screen lock, which will allow you to securely access your saved passkeys and sync new ones.
And because Google Password Manager is built into Google Chrome and Android, you can start using it right away, without having to download any additional apps.
