OpenAI announced the launch of the ChatGPT Search AI search engine based on the ChatGPT chatbot for all users. Thus, the developers enter into direct competition with Google, which dominates the global search engine market, 3DNews reports, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
ChatGPT Search will be available to any user who is logged into their account in the chatbot mobile applications or the web version of the service. Previously, Internet search through ChatGPT was only available to paid subscribers. OpenAI notes that the new service helps to receive quick and relevant answers with links to relevant web sources.
Requests are entered as usual, and the chatbot itself determines the need to search the Internet. Users can also click the Search button to have the bot perform a search directly, ask it to refine its search terms, or provide a more detailed summary of the results.
In addition, ChatGPT Search can be set as the default search engine in the browser, which could make the service a serious competitor to Google, as it will be easier for users to get a summary from the AI, rather than searching for the information they need on different sites.
