Google Wallet’s New Shortcut Is Here Thanks to the Latest Play Services

by time news

Remember the new tile Of Google Wallet for the quick settings we started talking about last month? Well, right now has started to show itself thanks to the update of the Google Play Services to the version 24.33. Let’s find out together what’s new on Android and what’s different compared to before.

Google Wallet has a new system-wide quick settings tile

Google Wallet makes it easier to use the service through a new shortcut within the quick settings (or quick settings, if you prefer). In fact, something similar was already available previously (starting with Android 11), but the manufacturers of the various smartphones had the option of choosing whether to include the feature or not (like Samsung, for example): the new tile is instead integrated at system levelmaking it accessible to everyone without asking the manufacturer for “permission”.

The new shortcut is starting to show up on smartphones updated to the latest version of Google Play Services, which is 24.33. Inside the changelog released by the Mountain View company we can in fact read that “With this new feature, it will be easier to access Wallet through its quick access panel.“, and this regardless of the smartphone model.

We haven’t been able to find the new shortcut yet, but we’re sure it’ll be coming to more and more devices in the coming days. The latest version of Play Services includes two more new features regarding Google Wallet, although we don’t have many details: a new feature for public transport cards and a feature that allows you to use your smartwatch as a digital car key (for compatible models).

You can check if you have the latest versions of Google Play Services and the Google Wallet app by going to the Play Store: just follow the badges below. Were you able to access the new tile? Let us know.
