The American corporation Google has agreed to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to users of the currently closed social network Google+. This was reported by The Record, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.

In October 2018, Google+ users accused the company that their personal data was leaked online, but the corporation did not report this. Six years later, Google executives agreed to compensate plaintiffs who suffered damages – the company will pay about $350 million.

The corporation’s lawyers noted that Google believes that no one was harmed as a result of the data leak, and the company also has “worthy arguments in defense of the stated claims.” However, the corporation decided not to waste its time and attention on litigation.

The lawsuit against Google was filed after the publication of The Wall Street Journal’s material. The newspaper reported that personal data of users was publicly available, including full names, email addresses, dates of birth, gender, profile photos, places of residence, occupation and marital status.

Google+ is a social network launched in June 2011. In April 2019, the social network was closed.
