Plot

In the 90s, private schools were more dominant than government schools. Government schools are closing little by little. Not only Dhanush but also many teachers from private schools go to government schools in different districts as teachers. Samuthirakani does this thinking that since all of them are assistant teachers in private schools, they will not make any progress in government schools.

Dhanush comes to Cholavaram Government School as an accountant and meets the heroine Samyukta {Meenakshi} there. A big shock awaited Dhanush who was going to school the next day after meeting Samyukta. Many of the students in the town are working as wage earners after completing their 10th standard.

Analysis of the film

Dhanush, as usual, carries the entire film with his performance. Special praise for Dhanush’s performance as he struggles to make the students study somehow and study is what earns them respect.

Samyukta Menon has captivated hearts in her first Tamil film as the heroine. Samuthirakani, who comes as the villain, threatens through her verses. Especially the verse where he says that ‘money earned in education is not earned in politics’ indicates his despicable character.

Sai Kumar, Aadukalam Naren, Thanikella Bharani, Ken Karunas, Mottai Rajendran and others who have played the supporting characters fit their roles perfectly.

The plot taken by director Venky Atluri is much needed in today’s society. He pointed out that parents should change their minds who think that their child can get good marks and be in a good situation in the future only if they study in a private school instead of government schools.

Apart from that, he also said that don’t sell education, give it free. Also, he has handled the caste related scenes in the film beautifully.

It has to be said that the screenplay has lost a bit even though it has good ideas. Although the length of the film is not great, the film can be felt to move a little slowly. This is the major minus point of the film.

G.V. Prakash’s Va Vathi song owns the sound of the whistle. But, other songs did not touch the heart. More than the songs, GV’s background score lifts the film. The rap used especially in the fight scenes is amazing. Yuvraj’s cinematography is beautiful. The fight scenes could have been designed even better. Naveen’s editing is okay.

In total Although not as expected, this lesson taken by Vathiaar is a necessary film for today’s scenario.
