Goseong-gun (Governor Lee Sang-geun) announced on Wednesday, October 23 that the eco-friendly farming Chimjeom Complex in Yeonghyeon-myeon (Chairman Woo Dong-wan) won the grand prize in the cooperative farming category at the 30th World Agricultural and Fisheries Technology Awards. The World Agricultural and Fisheries Technology Award is an award given to professional farmers who are competitive in the development of Korea’s agricultural and fisheries industries. It is hosted by Segye Ilbo and jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and the Rural Development Administration, and is awarded in the fields of agricultural technology development, cooperative farming, and institutional organizations. This award is given to farmers, organizations, and institutions that have made outstanding contributions.
The eco-friendly agriculture Yeonghyeon-myeon Chimjeom Complex (rice), which won the grand prize, received high praise for its active efforts in expanding the eco-friendly agricultural rice cultivation complex, fostering cultivation technology to reduce labor due to lack of rural manpower, and leading research projects.
The eco-friendly agriculture Yeonghyeon-myeon complex started with 9 farmers in the Goseong-gun eco-friendly agriculture rice cultivation complex leading group in 2008, and by encouraging the participation of Yeonghyeon-myeon residents and Chimjeom village residents, it has expanded to 33 ha and 35 farms with organic rice certification, and is recruiting residents of the complex to produce eco-friendly agricultural products. In addition, we are contributing to maintaining a healthy agricultural ecosystem by making and operating eco-friendly compost and liquid fertilizer using natural materials.
