Gosung County Governor Lee Sang-geun visited the ‘Gosung County Neulbaeum School’, an elementary school accredited course. On July 25, Gosung County Governor Lee Sang-geun visited the 2nd stage youth class of the ‘Gosung County Neulbaeum School’ and delivered a message of encouragement to the seniors who are participating in the learning with a strong passion for learning despite their old age. This visit was made to support the seniors’ will to learn and express deep gratitude for their efforts.

On this day, the governor expressed his deep respect for the seniors who are passionate about learning, and talked directly about the various difficulties and challenges they face in the learning process. In particular, he emphasized the sense of accomplishment and confidence that the seniors gain through learning, and shared how meaningful their small achievements are.

Currently, the second stage youth class is actively continuing its studies after entering in 2023, and the first stage course is proceeding with studies with three new classes, Bupo, Sangchon, and Sinjeon, entering this year. This course shows that Gosung-gun’s lifelong learning program is expanding.

This year’s youth class curriculum will be held every Tuesday through Thursday from March to December, and classes will be held for 2 hours each for a total of 40 weeks at the Goseong-gun Youth Center “On.” The curriculum consists of elementary school level 2 Korean, math, English, and creative experience subjects for grades 3 and 4, and a total of 240 hours of classes will be held. This program focuses on helping seniors build basic academic skills and play a bigger role in society.

Governor Lee Sang-geun said, “I was deeply moved by the efforts and passion of the youth class students. Despite the difficulties they have faced, their diligent study is a great inspiration to all of us,” and added, “The strong passion shown by the students is a role model for our local community, and we will continue to support them in the future.”

‘Goseong-gun Neulbaeum School’ is a program where adults over the age of 18 who do not have elementary school education can obtain elementary school education by completing a certain curriculum. Since last year, Goseong-gun has been operating four classes that are recognized as elementary school education. This program plays an important role in helping adults change their lives with new opportunities, and is receiving great response from local residents.
