Gotabhaya agrees to reduce powers! Ranil’s new strategy

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has advised President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa that there should be only 20 ministers in the new cabinet.

It has been reported that the formation of a cabinet is being discussed.

Ranil Wickremesinghe has held discussions with the People’s Alliance, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the United People’s Power.

Meanwhile, many have suggested that the finance ministry should be in the hands of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

In this context, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, in consultation with the Attorney General and Members of Parliament Vijayadasa Rajapaksa and Sushil Premajayantha on the 21st Amendment to the Constitution, is scheduled to submit the draft to the Cabinet next week.

According to the bill, both MPs will make provisions to further reduce the powers of the head of state and further strengthen the parliament.

The 21st Amendment is an updated version of the 19th Amendment.

It does not include the abolition of the executive presidency.

It would, however, reduce the powers of the head of state. As well as giving back power to independent companies.

It has been reported that the head of state has agreed to amend the constitution.
