In the early hours of this Friday, the Government and the representatives of the bases of the cargo transporters reached an agreement after the intense days of work this week. The agreement allowed the truckers’ strike, which was affecting the country’s mobility, to be lifted.

The Minister of Transport, María Constanza García Alicastro, reported that the commitment to increase the cost of ACPM by $800 for the remainder of the year was signedThis increase will be made in two parts: $400 as of the modification of resolution 40350 of 2024 and the other $400 as of December 1.

The agreement was not only focused on fuel prices. It was agreed to start a process of working tables that will address the structural adjustments that the sector needs.with the aim of improving the working conditions and quality of life of freight transporters.

The Ministry of Transport detailed on its X account (formerly Twitter) that “another 14 key points were agreed upon.” Among these, the suspension of new increases in the price of diesel fuel until structural transformations in the sector are achieved, the establishment of technical tables for regulatory adjustments, and the inclusion of all transport actors in the Integrated System of Efficient Costs for Motor Freight Transport (SICE-TAC) stand out.

This agreement represents an important step towards easing tensions in the transport sector and working on long-term solutions that benefit both transporters and the country.

Since the agreement was confirmed, truck drivers in different parts of the country began to clear the roads, returning to normality after several days of strikes.
