The Government of El Salvador announced this Sunday that “an offensive will be launched against the remnants” of gangs or criminal structures that still operate in the territories. The President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, held a meeting today with the Security Cabinet where this “offensive” was agreed.
“Although we are decisively winning the war against gangs, we will launch an offensive against the remnants of these structures, to prevent any attempt at regrouping, as was happening in Nueva Concepción,” the government reported on its official Twitter account.
On the other hand, the Minister of Justice and Security, Gustavo Villatoro, also expressed on social networks that “we have the firm commitment to completely eradicate cancer from gangs in our society and, under the leadership of our President Nayib Bukele, we will continue to implement all the necessary measures to achieve it.
