The Government of El Salvador, through the Ministry of Economy, announced this Tuesday the start of negotiations for the establishment of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the People’s Republic of China.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Economy, Maria Luisa Hayem, together with the representative of International Trade and Vice Minister of Commerce of China, Wang Shouwen.
“This announcement demonstrates the firm commitment of both nations to deepen their economic relations and enhance investment opportunities, as well as mutual cooperation,” said Minister María Luisa Hayem.
The official also highlighted that both El Salvador and China will seek to ensure that the negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement are agile and that it is a state-of-the-art agreement with innovative provisions on issues such as intellectual property, services and investment, economic cooperation, and small and medium-sized enterprises. companies.
“In recent years, bilateral relations have been developing rapidly and comprehensively, with emphasis on many economic and commercial achievements,” said the International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce of China.
Both countries will set up a working table to quickly achieve the General Framework of Negotiations, which will include, among others, the general principles that will govern the negotiation, the modalities and the respective roadmap.
The Government of El Salvador is creating ideal conditions to boost the country’s economy, through various actions that strengthen and promote foreign trade and bilateral relations with allied nations.
