Government Council: presentation on the execution of the 2024 budget and the framework for preparing the 2025 Finance Bill

Rabat – The Government Council followed, on Wednesday, a presentation by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, on the execution of the 2024 budget, the general framework for preparing the draft finance law (PLF) for the year 2025 and the overall three-year budget programming 2025-2027.

The implementation of the 2024 Finance Law (LF) is taking place in a context marked by challenges linked to the need to continue to consolidate macroeconomic balances, despite budgetary efforts aimed at implementing development projects, in particular the construction of the social state and the promotion of investment, particularly in infrastructure, as well as emergency measures taken to support the purchasing power of citizens, stressed Ms. Fettah, indicates a press release from the Ministry Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesperson.

Regarding public finances, the Minister noted that the results of the implementation of the LF revealed, at the end of June 2024, a good performance of revenues, particularly tax revenues, compared to the forecasts of the LF and the results for the year 2023, specifying that expenditure had evolved in line with forecasts.

And to inform that in light of the positive results obtained during the first months of the year, additional credits were opened by decree for an amount of 14 billion dirhams in order to cover new expenses, in particular for the implementation of social dialogue and the support of certain establishments and public companies whose activities have been affected by the rise in prices on an international scale.

Regarding the general framework for preparing the 2025 Finance Bill and the overall three-year budget programming for 2025-2027, the Minister noted that it coincides with a phase where government action is moving up a gear to complete the process of setting up major projects and fulfilling the commitments of the government program, in application of the High Royal Directives and in line with the recommendations of the new development model.
