On the ongoing nationwide quota reform movement, the leaders of the Democracy Forum claimed that the government has lost the legitimacy of being in power by declaring war against the people. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should resign immediately.

On Wednesday (July 17) afternoon, the leaders of the Democracy Manch could not enter Baitul Mukarram to read the funeral prayers of the students killed in the quota reform movement. Later, the leaders and activists took part in the funeral in the streets amid police barriers. Later, the leaders and activists of the Democracy stage took out a protest march from there. The procession moved from in front of the National Press Club to Vijayanagar and concluded with a short rally. At that time they made this claim.

Leaders in the rally said that the Prime Minister himself first instigated such terrorist activities across the country by making hateful comments about the protesting students in the press conference. Later, his Chhatra League and the police were brought down and terrorist attacks were carried out on students across the country for two consecutive days. His party leaders threatened to use the police and Chhatra League to punish the students. It is clear from all this, Sheikh Hasina has directly declared war against the people of Bangladesh. The prime minister must immediately resign as the one who ordered the killing of the students. The government stands against the people and loses all legitimacy to remain in power.

The leaders said that our children, who are under attack by the ruling Awami mafia group, must come forward to protect their lives and future. Students are fighting for the future of Bangladesh, practically all the roads and educational institutions of Bangladesh are now under their control. Their victory today is Bangladesh’s victory, their loss means Bangladesh’s loss. The leaders urged the people of Bangladesh to come forward to win them over.

On this occasion, general secretary of Revolutionary Workers Party Saiful Haque, Chief Coordinator of Mass Solidarity Movement Jonaid Saki, Convener of Bhasani Anusari Parishad Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, Chief Coordinator of State Reform Movement Hasnat Qayyum, General Secretary of Nagrik Oikya Shahidullah Qaiser, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal- Senior Joint General Secretary of JSD Kamal Patwari and other leaders.
