The Government of President Nayib Bukele guarantees support and accompaniment to children and young people who require a rehabilitation process, in addition to providing the necessary tools and specialized personnel, as part of comprehensive care under an inclusive approach, established in the policy and the Crecer Juntos Law, which is implemented under the initiative of the Office of the First Lady, Gabriela de Bukele.

Today, the president of the Salvadoran Institute for Comprehensive Rehabilitation (ISRI), Ligia Gallardo; the coordinator of Health and Nutrition Projects of the Office of the First Lady, Elisa Gamero; and the Minister of Health, Francisco Alabi; inaugurated the new hydrotherapy area of the ISRI Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center of the West, in the municipality of Santa Ana Centro.

“This pool provides water rehabilitation, which basically allows us to treat many of the conditions related to muscle contractures, vascular system problems and also edema,” explained the Minister of Health.

Hydrotherapy uses the properties of water as the main resource to help rehabilitate neurological patients with mobility problems, whether they are children, young people or adults. The hydrotherapy area at the ISRI Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center of the West has a space of 500 square meters and has an accessible structure.

“With this inauguration, we are fulfilling the mandate of First Lady Gabriela de Bukele to leave no child or girl behind. This means that the highest quality services are not only found in the capital,” said the coordinator of Health and Nutrition Projects of the Office of the First Lady.

This new hydrotherapy area also features a Hubbard tub, which uses the properties of water to facilitate exercises for all four limbs.

With this new space, built with the latest technology to rehabilitate and empower children, youth and adults, President Bukele’s government hopes to serve more than 3,500 users per year, of which 65% will be children.
