On December 30, the government decided to vacate the beach at the request of a few women. Officials at Cox’s Bazar said the idea of a special beach was approved because women felt insecure in a crowded place. But the government’s decision has been criticized as anti-woman. Various women’s groups have suggested that the Bangladesh government’s decision is a reminder of the Taliban’s Islamic terrorist group that has blocked women’s rights in Afghanistan in recent months.
