Government of SP decrees official mourning for the death of a teacher in an attack on the school – News

The Government of São Paulo decreed this Monday (27) official three-day mourning for the death of teacher Elisabeth Tenreiro, 71, who was attacked and stabbed by a 13-year-old student at the Thomazia Montoro State School in São Paulo, in western part of the capital.

“Very heavy hearted and saddened by the news of the death of Professor Elisabeth Tenreiro, who could not resist the injuries caused by the horror of this morning’s attack. I have no words to express my sadness at the news of the attack on students and teachers at the Thomazia Montoro State School”, declared Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).

Elisabeth was a retired employee of the Adolfo Lutz Institute of the State Department of Health. Since 2013 she has worked as a teacher and at the Thomazia Montoro State School she has been teaching Science since the beginning of this year.

In addition to Elisabeth, during the attack, the teenager attacked three other teachers, identified as Rita de Cássia Reis, Ana Célia Rosa and Giane. Two had superficial wounds and the third was hit by deeper blows. They were sent to Hospital das Clínicas and Hospital São Luiz.

One student also suffered minor injuries, another second was rescued in shock. Both went to the emergency room at Hospital Bandeirantes.
