(Reuters) – The government of São Paulo and consultants from Banco Genial held the first working meeting on Wednesday to prepare pre-feasibility studies and model the privatization of Empresa Metropolitana de Águas e Energia (BVMF:) (Emae ), the last asset in the electricity sector under the control of the State of São Paulo.
The studies involve the evaluation, structuring and execution of the sale of securities held directly and indirectly by the São Paulo government at Emae. Genial is part of the Nova Emae Genial Consortium, which won the bid to assess and structure the company’s privatization operation.
Emae is a publicly traded corporation controlled by the State of São Paulo. It operates hydroelectric and thermoelectric plants, dams, dams, pumping plants, in addition to the Pinheiros and Guarapiranga Channels and the Billings and Guarapiranga Dams, all in Greater São Paulo.
