Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu government has approved the appointment of one additional Deputy Commissioner, three Deputy City Engineers and two Assistant Town Planning Officers in the Coimbatore Corporation.

Along with essential works such as road laying, rain water drainage, street light maintenance, water supply etc., special projects announced by the Tamil Nadu government are also implemented on behalf of the corporation.

Due to insufficient number of employees and officers, the work cannot be completed within the stipulated time frame.

Many schemes announced by Chief Minister Stalin are still pending.

Therefore, to create 180 new posts, a resolution was passed in the Parliament and sent to the government.

Out of which, the Tamil Nadu government has given permission to create only a few posts.

Accordingly, permission has been given to appoint an additional post of Deputy Commissioner in the post of Joint Director, in the post of Executive Engineer, three new Assistant City Engineers, 5 people in each zone, one Executive Engineer in each zone, two in the zone of Assistant Town Planning Officer, 10 people.

A proposal was sent to appoint 100 tax collectors, one per ward.

The revenue department is shocked as this demand has been rejected and the job has been completely removed.

If there are more officers than the sanctioned posts, there has been an uproar among the municipal corporation officers as Municipal Corporation and Water Supply Department Secretary Shivdas Meena has instructed to transfer them to the nearby Municipal Corporations on a fill-in basis.

In addition to the post of Deputy Commissioner in the rank of Associate Director, in the rank of Executive Engineer, permission has been given to appoint three new Deputy City Engineers, five Executive Engineers per zone, two Assistant City Planning Officers, 10 people per zone.
