To guarantee a safe and peaceful environment during the 2023 General Elections, the Ministry of the Interior (Mingob) has implemented solid strategies. In the last few days they have specified different action plans that guarantee the protection of citizens and prevent conflicts that could disturb the civic process, respecting human rights and the current legal system.

The Mingob carries out a constant analysis of possible conflictive points, having identified 20 places so far. This inter-institutional work makes it possible to establish joint actions to guarantee public order and avoid incidents before, during and after the electoral process.
In addition, I announce that more than 43,000 agents of the National Civil Police (PNC) will be deployed to protect electoral delegations and voting centers throughout the country. In addition to giving precise guidelines so that their work is efficient during the elections.
Multisectoral coordination is essential
For this reason, Security and Social Conflict Reduction Tables have been installed at strategic points throughout the national territory. These tables bring together institutions responsible for security and the application of current legal regulations, as well as departmental governors, municipal mayors and representatives of public entities. Its objective is to analyze risks, activate action mechanisms and prevent disturbances during the elections.
Within the framework of Operational Plan 05-2023, the police presence will be increased around the voting centers and inter-institutional control posts will be established at strategic points. This will make it possible to verify that people do not have valid arrest warrants or carry illegal objects that could disturb public order.
In addition, the Air Unit of the Ministry of the Interior (Unagob) will carry out reconnaissance in support of the forces that carry out motorized patrols and raids in areas of difficult access. The main objective is to prevent illegal acts and provide a quality service during the civic day.
