Government promises credit to young people to continue university or technical studies

Minister of Labor Daniel Maurate highlighted that there is a high demand for technical careers, which is why the aim is to encourage young people to continue their studies.

“In Peru there are around 340,000 young people who finish school and do not pursue higher education. Only 25% of them access higher education and, among the reasons why the remaining 75% cannot pursue higher education, economic reasons stand out,” he commented during the press conference held at the Government Palace.

Government support will be through a loan to these students. “This credit will finance their studies either in a private university, public university or technological institutes so that they can complete them satisfactorily,” he said.

He added that, to meet this objective, the reports from the Ponte en Carrera observatory will be considered, which will be relaunched before the end of the year. “We are going to prioritize universities that have a high return, as well as take into account labor demand and, to do so, we will analyze the data and information that this important tool will provide us.”

Institute for technical careers announced

The head of the MTPE also highlighted the proposal presented by the Executive Branch for the creation of an institute for training in technical careers.

“We have received instructions from President Dina Boluarte about this important issue because not all young people choose to study at university. There is a great demand for technicians, which is why the creation of an institute has been contemplated. Currently, labor demand is oriented towards technicians. We will soon be reporting what this project consists of,” she said.

On the other hand, Maurate announced the development of a project bank for the temporary employment program Llamkasun Peru (former Construction Peru).

“We are traveling throughout the country in order to inform about this new format of the program, which, basically, will finance basic works of up to one million 200.00 soles, which will allow employment to be generated in all towns, especially in the most vulnerable. . In this way, we will contribute to breaking the chain of poverty, since the main beneficiaries are single mothers who will allocate these resources to the education and well-being of their children,” Maurate pointed out.
