Tougher rules for directors general who have left their position. It is one of the proposals that is now on the government’s table. Investigator Karin Almgren wants to see transition restrictions similar to those for ministers and state secretaries, which could have consequences for Colonel Commander Micael Bydén, who started a consulting company before he even had time to leave his post.
However, the conditions for the general directors are to be somewhat less strict: a waiting period of six months instead of twelve months. In addition, the assessment must be made to a greater extent on a case-by-case basis, depending on the duties of the head of the authority.
The investigation was appointed by the then S government in the summer of 2022, with the aim of increasing citizens’ trust in the public sector.
