The government is providing disaster relief tax to Jeonnam due to the Muan airliner disaster that occurred at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCHQ) announced on the 30th that it will provide special disaster response tax support to Jeonnam to resolve the passenger plane accident in early January next year.

The special disaster tax is used to cover operation costs of the response headquarters and emergency relief expenses.

All 179 passengers, excluding the two crew members who were initially rescued, were confirmed dead in this accident. As of 9 a.m. that day, 84 men and 85 women had died, and it is difficult to identify the gender of the remaining 10 people.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, only 141 of the dead have been identified, and the DNA of the remaining 38 is being analyzed. Police will continue to confirm the identity through DNA comparison.

The specific cause of the accident and the amount of property damage are currently being investigated.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Welfare established an integrated psychological support group centered around the National Trauma Center to provide psychological support to bereaved families. Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered a message of condolence to the Thai government from the Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding the death of a Thai citizen.
