Government’s complete failure to implement food security; VD Satheesan

by time news

Thiruvananthapuram | Opposition leader VD Satheesan blamed the state government for food poisoning and deaths due to it. Satheesan alleged that the government has completely failed to implement food security. In a press release, VD Satheesan alleged that bureaucratic lobby is subverting the food security department.

Two deaths due to food poisoning have been reported in the last six days. The state has reached an alarming state where serious health problems are being reported every day. Kerala, which was ranked first in the National Food Security Index during the UDF government, has slipped to the sixth position in 2022. It is clear from this that the food security in the state is a failure.

The negligence of the government and the health department has brought the state to a state where it is not even possible to eat outside the house. The State Food Safety Department, which is supposed to ensure food safety, and the Health Department, which is supposed to coordinate their activities, have become lopsided.

The state food safety department also adopts the method of going for inspection only when there are news and complaints about food poisoning. Inspection of inter-district squads and operation of rapid action forces are being sabotaged by bureaucratic lobby with the tacit approval of government elites. Satheesan also asked what justice the common man should still expect from the Food Safety Department, which mocks those who call the toll-free numbers.
