The world is already working very fast on fast internet and strong networks. The world has seen how India has worked in 3G and 5G. Now Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has made it clear that India is going to show the world a new direction in 6G as well. Scindia also said that the government has not yet set any timeline for selling its stake in Vodafone-Idea. He was talking to ET and he also talked about India’s future plans.

Scindia further says that the telecom industry plays an important role in our country’s economy. Mobile connections in India have also seen a rapid increase. Earlier it was 900 million, but now it has increased to 1,150 million. Subscribers have also increased rapidly. In the case of internet also, we have increased from 200 million to 950 million. There has been a significant decline in data cost to calling cost. India was a follower in 3G, 4G and 5G. But today India is capable of leading in 6G. In the coming times, the whole world will be looking at our network.

4G stake is being rolled out for BSNL. Along with this, work on 5G is also going on at a fast pace. Scindia says that India is the third or fourth country in the world to have its own 4G network. This means that we have our own core, radio access network and data center. We want the rollout to be as quick as possible. India is also avoiding foreign exchange because we do not have to depend on any other country for service, which is a very positive sign for us.

Emphasizing on the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, he said that it has been completely successful and we are also using it in telecom equipment manufacturing. On the question of the government’s priority, Scindia said that we want every citizen to have a good network available. Scindia tells that he is also looking at 5G labs. For this, he will encourage new startups. He said that we want India to manufacture its own equipment.
