The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, announced the re-creation of the Public Security Secretariat in the state. The body had been extinguished in 2019 under Wilson Witzel’s government. At the time, a division was made between the Civil and Military police, and each corporation head gained the status of secretary. The new structure will be commanded by federal delegate Victor dos Santos, who must prioritize the fight against militias and drug trafficking.
