The governor Mauricio Vila Dosaltogether with Ministry of Economy of the Government of Mexico, Raquel Buenrostro Sanchezled the presentation of the two Development Poles for Well-being installed in Yucatanprojects that were achieved as a result of coordinated work with the Federation and that will become an important trigger for the development of the entity and the arrival of new investments in 11 branches of industry, which will generate sources of employment for Yucatecan families.

At the International Congress Center (CIC), Vila Dosal shared the details of these sites, named Mérida 1 and Progreso 1, where the Federal Government will grant tax incentives to taxpayers who carry out economic activities and those who settle there, promoting the state as an increasingly attractive place for investors.

The event was attended by the president of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (CANACINTRA), Esperanza Ortega Azar; and the leaders of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur), Octavio de la Torre D Steffano; of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) national, Luis Rafael Méndez Jaled, and of the Council of the Maquiladora and Manufacturing Industry of Importation (INDEX), Humberto Martínez Cantú.

In his message, the Governor thanked President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the Ministry of Economy for their willingness to work together and promote this and other strategic projects for Yucatán.

Before local business leaders, he recalled that Yucatan is experiencing a historic moment, which is reflected in economic growth above the national average, there is a greater amount of Foreign Direct Investment, a greater number of jobs to be taken over, and currently there is the best average daily wage that the state has ever had.

In addition, Vila Dosal highlighted that, as part of this unprecedented moment, a historic decrease in poverty, extreme poverty and inequality in the state has been achieved.

To create the foundations for the economic development of Yucatán, Vila Dosal pointed out that his administration has promoted important strategic projects together with the Federation, such as this one, the elevated viaduct of Progreso, the expansion of the natural gas supply pipeline, two Combined Cycle power plants and the construction of a branch of the Mayan Train, which goes from the Poxilá station in Umán to Progreso.

“Six years into this government, we are laying the foundations for the development and economic growth of Yucatán for the next 30 years. We are always willing to work in coordination for the good of Yucatán and to do our part to help Mexico do better,” he said.

For her part, the Secretary of Economy of the Federal Government stated that the Industrial Poles of Welfare are a historic event for Yucatan and the southeast, because in addition to being the first in the region, they will trigger economic development with social welfare.

It is important to remember that the Federal Government promotes Development Poles for Well-being, and the fact that two of them have been created in Yucatan is a response to the coordinated work with the Vila Dosal administration to continue promoting the economic growth of the state through new investments that generate more and better jobs for the Yucatecans.

At the event, it was announced that the industrial hubs will be intended to serve 11 sectors, which are: electrical and electronic; semiconductors; automotive (electromobility, auto parts and transportation equipment); medical devices; pharmaceutical; agroindustry; electric power generation and distribution equipment (clean sources); machinery and equipment; information and communication technologies; metals and petrochemicals.

Thanks to the teamwork of the State Secretariats of Economic Development and Labor (Sefoet), Economy (SE) and Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), it was possible to include the 11 branches of industry mentioned above, since the special economic zone project only included one branch, in addition to including all tax incentives.

It was explained that taxpayers who carry out productive economic activities within industrial complexes will have federal tax benefits such as accelerated depreciation during the first six years, that is, a scheme that allows entrepreneurs to recover the original investment in fixed and deferred assets, via tax, through a higher percentage in the first years after the acquisition.

Also, the exemption from value added tax (VAT) on transactions within and between the hubs, during the first four years and 100% exemption from income tax (ISR) during the first three years, with the possibility of extending for three additional years with a reduction of up to 90% depending on variables such as the number of jobs created.

As for state benefits, they range from the tax on income obtained from business activities, the first 4 years at 100% and the following at 50%; tax on expenditures for remuneration of personal work, updating and its accessories, the first 4 years at 100% and the following at 50%.

Likewise, the additional tax for the execution of material works and social assistance at 100%; fees for the services of the Public Registry of Property and Commerce, the Cadastre Directorate, the Secretariat of Sustainable Development, the Secretariat of Health and the State Coordination of Civil Protection, all at 100%. Applicable for 6 years with the possibility of extending for up to 8 more years.

The Progreso I Industrial Park is located at kilometer 24.5 of the Mérida-Progreso highway, in the municipality of Progreso, and is owned by the Government of Yucatán with 223 hectares. Likewise, the State Government will donate 110 hectares to the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) for the development of a multimodal park for the Mayan Train.

It is worth mentioning that the State Government has also managed a branch of the Mayan Train that would reach the Technological Pole of Progreso, where the construction of the aforementioned multimodal station is contemplated.

As for Mérida 1, it is located next to the Scientific and Technological Park of Yucatán, in the municipality of Mérida, with an area of ​​60 hectares.

There are 10 hubs in the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, and the Government of Yucatan managed with the Federal Government 2 industrial hubs with the same tax benefits, projecting a comprehensive connection between the Interoceanic Corridor, the Mayan Train and the expansion of the Port of Progreso.
