Ranchi: A crucial decision is likely to be taken tomorrow regarding the disqualification of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Chief Minister Hemant Soren is likely to be declared disqualified by the Governor tomorrow. The Governor may instruct the Election Commission tomorrow to disqualify the Chief Minister.
If the notification disqualifying Hemant Soren comes out from the Raj Bhavan, then he cannot continue as Chief Minister. Will have to resign as soon as possible. With this, the cabinet will also resign along with the chief minister. Hemant Soren can return to the post of chief minister if he wins again in the by-elections to be held in six months. Sources close to Soren have also sought legal advice on approaching the High Court as soon as the notification comes out.
Meanwhile, UPA MLAs held a meeting in Jharkhand to announce the Governor’s decision. The MLAs held a meeting at Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s residence. Although the recommendation of the Election Commission was received yesterday, the governor has not yet announced his disqualification. The Election Commission has recommended that Hemant Soren’s membership in the legislature be revoked in the mining license case. But on the grounds of morality, the BJP is demanding that the government should be dismissed and face the elections
The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is part of the UPA alliance. JMM leaders are still saying that Hemant Soren will continue as Chief Minister till 2024. All JMM and Congress MLAs have been asked to stay in Ranchi in case of emergency.
The BJP’s complaint that Hemant Soran had given permission for the mine in his own name led to the cancellation of the assembly. There were allegations of abuse of power and violation of Section 9A of the Representation of the People Act. The Election Commission has recommended a strict action based on this. But Hemant Soren responded that he has not received any notification regarding this. Soren also criticized the BJP. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha also accused the Election Commission of becoming a BJP commission.
A discussion was held with the ministers at the Chief Minister’s residence in Ranchi when the Governor was about to announce the decision. The Advocate General also met the Chief Minister. There are indications that Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren will become the Chief Minister if there is a situation to resign. But if the BJP can take advantage of the political crisis and bring the ruling MLAs to their side, the regime in Jharkhand will change.
Currently, the JMM-Congress alliance that formed the government has 51 MLAs in the 81-member assembly. The opposition NDA has 30 MLAs. BJP was tired of JD(U) leaving the NDA coalition government in Bihar. To overcome this, the BJP is trying to take control of Jharkhand. At the same time, Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bhais, who came to Delhi to take a stand on the issue of Election Commission, returned to Ranchi today.
