Sri Lanka is facing a severe financial crisis. As a result, the people of that country and the Sri Lankan Tamils are finding it very difficult to buy food. In this context, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin wrote a letter to Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar requesting that the Union Government grant legal permission to assist Sri Lanka on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Responding to the letter, Union Minister Jaisankar said that Sri Lanka would be allowed to supply relief items on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government and that the goods could be sent through the Central Government. In his letter, Jaisankar also said that the Tamil Nadu government could send a chief secretary to coordinate the distribution of goods in Sri Lanka if desired.
Following this, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin wrote on his Twitter page, “Personal thanks to Dr. S. Jaisankar for accepting Tamil Nadu’s request to help the people of Sri Lanka. This humanitarian operation is greatly welcomed by all. I am also confident that it will help enhance the warmth and good relations between the two countries. May goodwill grow in all fields. ”
In this context, Sri Lanka – Nuwara Eliya, Member of Parliament and former Sri Lankan Minister Jeevan Thondaman has expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. This is what he said; “I am happy and proud that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has extended a helping hand to MK Stalin. Chief Minister MK Stalin in particular has extended that assistance not only to the Tamils but to the entire Sri Lankan people. We will never forget this gratitude. He has declared Rs. At an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore, about 40,000 tonnes of rice, worth Rs. 78 crore for drugs and Rs. 15 crore for milk powder. We thank Chief Minister MK Stalin for that. ”
Similarly, the Governor of the Northern Province of Sri Lanka Jeevan Thiyagaraja stated; “I came to India on the 29th. On that day, the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly passed a resolution to provide various assistance to Sri Lanka. We welcome this. In addition, he has offered to provide basic necessities such as food, milk powder and medicines. As Governor, I extend my congratulations and gratitude to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. ”
Sri Lanka – Jaffna Member of Parliament M.A. In the video released by Sumanthiran, he said, “On behalf of the Tamil National Alliance, we express our heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, for passing a resolution in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly to help the people of Sri Lanka recover from the economic crisis in Sri Lanka.
Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. When we politely told you that it would be appropriate at this time, not only for the Tamil people, but for all Sri Lankans to do so, my heartfelt thanks go out to you, my dear brother, for your understanding of it, for accepting it, and for passing the resolution of the Assembly that you, through the United Government, would send a great deal of assistance to Sri Lanka.
