Governor post for 5 Tamils: Tamil Nadu Congress in a frenzy Governor post for 5 Tamils: Tamil Nadu Congress in a frenzy

by time news

Chennai: In the last nine years of BJP rule, five people from Tamil Nadu have been given the post of governor, but despite being in power for 60 years, the leaders of the Tamil Nadu Congress party are unhappy that they did not get the chance to be the governor.

Although there are various high posts in India, the post of Governor is the most important. Posts like Chief Minister and Union Minister are not easy for everyone.

No matter how hard you work in politics, you can become Chief Minister and Union Minister only if you have the strategy to win the elections and the social background.

But anyone can come to the post of Governor, which is a constitutional post, if the Central Government puts its mind to it. Even if he does not have the power to rule, the Governor is the head of the state government administration. The Governor has all the honors one step above the Chief Minister.

Bills passed in the Assembly also become law only after the assent of the Governor. The Governor has the power to hoist the national flag on Republic Day and to address the Assembly at the beginning of the year.

Such an important post of governor is the dream of many senior politicians. However, this opportunity is more for those who belong to the BJP-Congress party, who are likely to form the government in the middle.

After the BJP came to power in 2014, in nine years, five people from Tamil Nadu namely Shanmuganathan, Sathasivam, Tamilisai, Ila.Ganesan and CP Radhakrishnan have been given the opportunity of governorship. However, even though the Congress was in power in the mid-60s, only a few from Tamil Nadu have been governors such as C. Subramaniam, C. Rangarajan, B. Ramachandran, Jyothivenkatachalam, Narasimhan, Ramanujam.

The DMK, which has been part of the central government for more than 15 years, and the ADMK, which has been in the central cabinet for a few years, have not made anyone from their party the governor despite the opportunity. MM Rajendran, a retired IAS officer, was the Governor of Odisha in 1999 on DMK’s recommendation.

Currently, the leaders of the Tamil Nadu BJP are becoming governors one after the other, and the leaders of the Tamil Nadu Congress Party are expressing their regret that they have not been given the chance to become governors despite being in power for 60 years.

A senior leader of Tamil Nadu Congress said: Even though not even an MP is available from Tamil Nadu, BJP is giving important posts like Governor and Union Minister. Although this is a tactic of BJP to establish a foothold in Tamil Nadu, it is regrettable that the Congress has not done so in 60 years.

In the past 2004-2014, Kumari Anandan, S.R. Balasubramanian, Tindivanam Ramamurthy and many others tried hard for the post of Governor, but they were stopped by people from Tamil Nadu who were Union Ministers at that time. This is what he said.
