Kochi | The High Court has extended the date for the VCs to reply to the governor’s show cause notice till the 7th of this month. VCs should reply before 7:00 PM. The notice is a request to show cause for non-eviction. VCs who do not respond will be given an opportunity to argue in court. The final hearing in the case will be held on the 7th.

The Vice-Chancellors contended that the show-cause notice issued by the Chancellor would not stand. V Simar also told the court that the governor’s notice to resign had been canceled earlier. A second notice cannot be sent on the ground that the first notice has been canceled and it has not been complied with. VC Mar argued that if there is a mistake in the appointment of the Vice Chancellor, the Chancellor has no power to correct it.

Seven people, including former Kerala University VC Mahadevan Pillai, had approached the High Court stating that the Governor’s action was illegal.
