Governor of Tamil Nadu Ravi had invited the people’s representatives of the political parties to participate in the tea party to be held this evening at the Governor’s House on the occasion of the Tamil New Year. The leadership of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) had announced yesterday that it had decided not to attend the party. Following this, the DMK, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and the Congress also announced that they would boycott the tea party.

Earlier, the NEET Exemption Bill was passed in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. The NEET Exemption Bill, which was sent to the Governor in September 2021, was not sent to the President but was returned by the Governor to the Government of Tamil Nadu. Immediately after that, a special session of the Assembly was convened under the chairmanship of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin, and the NEET Exemption Bill was re-passed in the Legislature and sent to the Governor.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the Governor, Minister Thangam Tennarasu said, “The Government of Tamil Nadu is ignoring the tea party hosted by Governor Ravi as it does not respect the dignity and people of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. The governor did not approve the NEET bill.

Thus the prestige of the State of Tamil Nadu has been questioned. We demand that the Governor send the bill to the President as approved by the Chief Minister. ”Coalition parties of the ruling DMK have announced that they will boycott the banquet. Meanwhile, it has been reported that Union Minister L. Murugan is scheduled to meet Governor Ravi this evening.
