‘Govt’s illegal activities should be punished’

Islami Andolan Bangladesh Senior Naib Amir Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim has demanded punishment by bringing under the law those involved in the illegal activities of the government.

He made this claim in a press conference at the party’s central office in Old Paltan on Tuesday (August 20).

The Islamic movement organized this press conference on the ongoing situation of the country after the fall of the ‘dictatorial government’ and the activities of the interim government.

Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim said that the fallen fascist and dictatorial Awami government used the Election Commission and the administration to hold 3 fake national elections on January 7, 2014, 2018 and 2024. They have prolonged their illegal power through these one-sided, bogus, rigged and dummy elections. Those who helped them in these illegal and farcical elections and allowed the A.L. to remain in power illegally are also equally guilty. The 3 election commissions that conducted the 3 illegal and farcical elections and the officials of the administration who were involved in their illegal activities should be brought under the law and face punishment. So that no one dares to hold illegal elections in the future. Besides, we want to see the judicial system of the current election commission.

Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim expressed his respect, gratitude and sympathy to all the students who gave their lives, were injured and lost their loved ones in the coup and said, those who participated in this movement of the nation will never forget their contribution. Islami Andolan Bangladesh, who played a consistent role in the anti-fascism and anti-dictatorship movement and was an active participant in the popular uprising of students. It has been supporting the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus since its inception. As a responsible political party, we want to continue to support this government in creating a stable political environment and restructuring the economy for the welfare of the country and people. In this case, the government should create an atmosphere of trust between the peace-loving people of the country and the students and political parties participating in the anti-fascist movement.

Mufti Faizul Karim said that the chief adviser of the interim government. The Ameer of the Islamic Movement said that the government will soon disclose the type and process of its reform activities and the time frame to complete the reform activities and announce a roadmap for the national elections.
