Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) has agreed to cooperate with Japan’s Panax Japan, Tokyo System House, Berrybest, and Acquire Co., Ltd. to attract investment to Ilsan Techno Valley and promote content industry exchanges between Korea and Japan.
On the 5th, Goyang Special City Mayor Lee Dong-hwan visited Japanese digital content company Panax Japan, cutting-edge IT solution company Tokyo System House, Japanese leading law firm Berrybest, and game production and distribution company Acquire Co., Ltd., and signed business agreements (MOUs).
PANAXX Japan, an affiliate of Artenica, is a consulting and digital content distribution company specializing in interactive games that is pioneering a new genre in the gaming industry. In June, it visited Goyang City and submitted a letter of intent to invest 10 billion won, and agreed to actively cooperate in exchanges with Goyang City content companies.
Panax Japan CEO Tatsunori Okawa stated, “Panax Japan aims to develop global games that can be enjoyed by the whole family,” and added, “We would like to move our Japanese headquarters to Goyang City in the future and contribute to the revitalization of the Goyang e-sports industry.”
Tokyo System House, an IT solution and service company, has agreed to cooperate with Goyang City in the future to attract and collaborate with advanced Japanese companies affiliated with the Software Cooperative Association. Tokyo System House is a company that provides advanced IT solutions, digital automation, and research and development (R&D) for business growth. Representative Director Tomoyuki Hayashi is also the Vice Chairman of the Japan Software Cooperative Association (JASPA), which consists of IT SME cooperatives in Japan.
We have also signed a business agreement with Japan’s largest law firm, Berrybest Law Firm. Berrybest Law Firm has 75 branches and 360 lawyers throughout Japan and specializes in corporate law, intellectual property rights, labor law, and international transactions. It is particularly strong in content intellectual property (IP) disputes, so it is expected that Goyang City content companies will be able to receive the legal advice they need when entering Japan.
We signed an agreement with ACQUIRE Co., Ltd., a game production and distribution company, and also discussed collaboration between Japanese intellectual property (IP) games and Goyang City content industries. ACQUIRE Co., Ltd. has been producing many unique and distinctive games since its 1998 development of “3D Ninja Action Tenshu.” The game “Octopath Traveler,” produced in 2018, was a huge hit in Japan, and with this agreement as an opportunity, we are considering advancing into Korea through collaboration with Goyang City content companies.
Mayor Lee Dong-hwan also visited Sony Music Entertainment Japan, Aniplex, and Booklista, affiliates of the global entertainment Sony Group, to discuss cooperation in the content industry.
Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang City said, “With this business agreement, we have secured a strong partner that will help attract global cutting-edge companies to Ilsan Techno Valley and domestic content companies enter the Japanese market, including content companies with excellent intellectual property (IP), IT solution companies, and law firms that can provide legal advice.” He added, “If cooperative companies are attracted and established in Goyang City in the future, we expect to see synergy effects through active collaboration between excellent content companies in Goyang City and Japanese companies.”
