A great achievement following last year’s best performance ever… Proving that it is a ‘city that works well’
Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 8th that it achieved first place in Gyeonggi Province for two consecutive years in the 2024 (23-year performance) government joint quantitative evaluation.
The city achieved the highest score ever by ranking first in quantitative evaluation and qualitative evaluation in 2023, and achieved first place overall in Gyeonggi-do. This year, it ranked first among 31 cities and counties in quantitative evaluation, achieving the feat of ‘ranking first in Gyeonggi-do for two consecutive years in the government joint quantitative evaluation.’
Goyang Special City Mayor Lee Dong-hwan said, “This is a successive achievement following our acquisition of 400 million won in commercial business expenses by ranking first in the city/county comprehensive evaluation last year,” and added, “We will continue to achieve good results in the city/county comprehensive evaluation at the end of September through systematic and consistent performance management based on policies for the citizens.”
The government joint evaluation is a system that evaluates national delegated tasks, national subsidy projects, and major national policies carried out by 17 metropolitan and provincial governments, hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Based on the evaluation results of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 7th, Gyeonggi Province conducted its own evaluation and announced the performance of 31 cities and counties.
As a result, Goyang Special City ranked first among 10 cities with a population of over 500,000 people in Group 1 (Suwon, Yongin, Hwaseong, Seongnam, etc.) for two consecutive years.
The quantitative evaluation compared the target achievement rate by city and county for 67 indicators in the fields of health, economy, welfare, culture, forestry, and environment. The city achieved the highest (S) grade in all indicators except for one indicator that was given an average value due to being excluded from the evaluation.
In particular, it was shown that excellent administration was carried out in all areas, with excellent results compared to other cities and counties in many areas, such as △social economy priority purchase rate △employment support service achievement rate △fostering healthy and sustainable forest resources △expanding GAP certified farms △achievement of forest fire prevention performance, etc.
Goyang Special City Mayor Lee Dong-hwan emphasized, “Achieving first place out of 31 cities and counties for two consecutive years in an evaluation of over 60 indicators is the result of the combined efforts of all 3,500 public officials, and is a meaningful result that demonstrates Goyang Special City’s high administrative capabilities,” and “The excellent results we achieve in the comprehensive evaluation every year are indicators that prove that Goyang Special City is a ‘city that works well. ’”
Meanwhile, the results of this government joint evaluation will be reflected by 20% in the Gyeonggi Province city and county comprehensive evaluation, which will be conducted at the end of September.
